Celtic Harp Lessons with San Diego Teacher Susan Zevenbergen
Do you want to find out more about whether Celtic harp lessons are right for you? Do you want to get your hands on a Celtic harp and see what the magic is all about?
Whether or not you've ever played any musical instrument before, whether you (or your child) are 6 or 75, you can follow your dream and learn to play the Celtic harp.
People ask me all the time if I'm sure they can do it, and I smile and say, of course you can! If you want to learn from a teacher who is passionate about the Celtic harp, someone who will cheer you on, keep you focused on the joy of playing, and remind you to follow your own heart through the music, then my Celtic harp teaching studio is the right place for you.

More About My Harp Lessons
I can think of nothing that I enjoy more than teaching children and adults of all ages to play the Celtic harp. I especially love teaching adult beginners with limited or mixed previous musical experience who need a friendly and encouraging advocate as they pursue their dreams.
I believe in empowering students to create their own music right from the beginning, and my teaching reflects that belief. With an emphasis on ear-training and improvisation, as well as practical harp technique, my students explore a variety of genres, from classical and Celtic to contemporary and jazz. I fell in love with the Celtic harp in 1999. I studied extensively with Rachel Starr Ellins and have taken workshops with Christina Tourin, Kim Robertson, Alfredo Rolando Ortiz and Sharlene Wallace. Besides teaching Celtic harp lessons, I find great joy in making music with many friends and combinations of instruments. I play in Lumina Celtic Harp and Flute Duo and I am a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner. My other musical endeavors include singing, piano, and arranging and composing.

Most teachers are more than happy to talk to you about how they approach helping students learn to play the harp. An introductory lesson can help you find out whether this is the instrument for you and whether you think the teacher's style will suit your personality and goals. In any case, it's essential that you find out if the teacher's approach and style will be a good fit for you. My friend Kim Luker, a piano teacher, has a
wonderful guide to interviewing potential teachers (link opens in a new window).
Even though you're looking for a harp teacher rather than a piano teacher, her advice will save you from the frustration of a bad match.
