I have a new harp student - - in Hawaii! I live in California, but thanks to online harp lessons, and the marvelous, free technology provided by Skype, she now has a teacher. I'm often contacted by people without access to a harp teacher in their area, looking for another way. The great news is, I've found it. Now anyone anywhere can receive the same instruction and benefits of those who come in person to my studio.
Here's how it works. If you don't already have one, buy a basic webcam made for online calling, readily available inexpensively at places like Target. (If you're a Mac user, you may already have a built-in camera; if not, let me know and I'll tell you where to find one). Microphone headphones are helpful but optional, as long your built-in microphone works relatively well. After you have installed Skype, you use the internet to "call" me at your lesson time, and we initiate a video chat online. During your online harp lesson, we will be able to see and hear each other with remarkable clarity. It's very similar to having a harp lesson in person. And guess what? You'll now be able to use the technology to see and talk to people all over the world for free, as long as they also have the hardware. If you have children or grandchildren elsewhere, you can imagine how cool that is . . . Want to experience a lesson? Use the paypal button below to add a lesson to your cart. A half-hour lesson costs $25. When you pay for the lesson, you'll be asked for your location and time zone. When I receive your order, I'll contact you to set up a time that will work for both of us to try your first lesson. After your first lesson, you'll have an opportunity to decide whether you would like to continue to take lessons, just as my in-person students do. here I am here to help you. If you would like a copy of my studio policies about payment and cancellation or you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me: |
